Re: Phoca Gallery Plugin not working on Joomla 4
Hi Jan,
Thanks for this, but... I don't see that the problems I have had with 4.5.2 have been addressed?
As I said, the new updates (Phoca Gallery 4.5.2 and Plugin 4.5.2) don't work correctly. The Previous 4.5.2Beta2 was fine.
There are many problems:
1. On the thumbnails, the filename now totally obscures the image (see attached pic https://imgur.com/yVNiyZO)
2. One the detail view, the freetext description of the image has disappeared again (although it was working fine with the beta)
3. On the detail view, the filename is now dark blue (on black) and is nearly invisible. Previously white text.
4. On any article / page which has a Photo Gallery, the colours and settings of the Headings (e.g.Heading3 and 4) don't work as I have set them up (to be purple in my case). Everything is black.
5. On any article / page which has a Photo Gallery, the body / paragraph text is tiny and nearly unreadable! Not at all like my settings which work fine on other pages / articles.
Please advise. I am unable to use the new Plugin 4.5.2 release version, but Plugin 4.5.2Beta2 is fine.
Rgds
Hugh

Re: Phoca Gallery Plugin not working on Joomla 4
Hi,
1. the style is now loaded from Phoca Gallery component, so you can set that the theme will be standard instead of simple (so the title will be displayed below image). I will take a look at it to add parameter to hide the titles.
2. I will take a look at it.
3. Can you paste a screenshot of what do you exactly mean?
4. Can you paste a screenshot? Are you able to check the CSS loaded on the site, to detect if the html is not somehow influenced by Phoca Gallery CSS (testing now, see no problem)
5. the same like 4.

Re: Phoca Gallery Plugin not working on Joomla 4
Hi Jan,
Thanks for this.
I'm afraid I do not quite understand the "standard instead of simple" styles you refer to. You previous asked me to set the Detail View Settings to "Photoswipe". Are you referring to a separate set of style settings?
Anyway... to explain more:
I hope this will make clear the problems with the release Plugin 4.5.2:
Plugin 4.5.2Beta2
- this gives a pretty good display of the thumbnails, including the filename below each thumbnail. IF the filename is long, then it does encroach onto the image itself, but I can live with that. (As discussed before, there is no download option, but again I can live with that).
- This is a screenshot of the thumbnail view: https://imgur.com/a/OVG2Sox
- This is a screenshot of a detail view (note the filename and the freetext description are printed in very small white font in the centre below the image): https://imgur.com/a/IapRlYq
Plugin 4.5.2 (19.10.2022) however, gives the following:
- Thumbnail view: https://imgur.com/a/VKq7axM
Note: The filenames in white on grey background obscuring the thumbnails
The adjustments I have made to Headings 1-4 and the font size for paragraph text have reverted to the default Joomla / Cassiopeia ones. The plugin appears to have over-written settings in the css files.
- Detail view: https://imgur.com/a/cMYr3wK
Note the filename is now in tiny dark blue font, barely visible, and the freetext description is no longer shown at all.
I am currently unable to use Plugin 4.5.2 and have reverted to Plugin 4.5.2Beta2 which is thankfully working!
Sorry if there are fundamental things that I am not doing correctly, but 4.5.2 seems a retrograde step from 4.5.2Beta2.
Kind regards
Hugh

Re: Phoca Gallery Plugin not working on Joomla 4
Hi, the stable version was synchronized with component (because of returning back some more parameters, etc. etc.)
It loads the component styles, because it uses its framework. And in component there are two styles/themes now - the simple (where the titles are displayed over the images) and the standard where the titles are displayed below the images. So changing themes in Phoca Gallery component can change the output of the plugin.
First of all, update to version 4.5.3
https://www.phoca.cz/download/category/ ... ery-plugin
1) To display the titles below images, just install theme standard into Phoca Gallery and enable it:
https://www.phoca.cz/download/category/ ... ery-themes
- in Phoca Gallery administration, go to install Themes
- in Phoca Gallery administration - in Styles - enable Standard theme and disable simple theme
... continuing in new post (because of url limitation in forum)

Re: Phoca Gallery Plugin not working on Joomla 4
... (continuing from previous post, please read the previous post first)
See images:
a) Phoca Gallery plugin displayed with help of theme simple:
b) Phoca Gallery pugin displayed with help of theme standard:
In case the name is too long, this can be solved by CSS (there are different CSS techniques how to short the name, or do not display it as whole, etc.)
2) Detail view: In Phoca Gallery plugin, enable the parameter to display Caption. Go to administration - Plugins - Phoca Gallery Content Plugin - Main Option - Parameter: Display Caption (Photoswipe), then the description will be displayed in detail window:
Testing now how the CSS can influence the standard template output and I see nothing on my demo site, can you paste some concrete examples of which CSS parts are influenced.
Thank you, Jan

Re: Phoca Gallery Plugin not working on Joomla 4
Dear Jan,
These detailed instructions were so helpful - thank you!
I'm afraid I had not realised the significance of "themes", as in Joomla3 everything seemed to work fine with HighslideJS and the simple Phoca plugin.
I understand now that in Joomla4, the use of Themes is replacing Highslide etc.
Anyway, having carried out your excellent instructions, everything seems to be working perfectly now. The thumbnails and the detail images are fine, with the filename and description displayed OK. For whatever reason, the setups for Heading 1/2/3/4 etc are also all working normally.
Thank you again.
