search or finder plugin

I've seen two plugins: search and finder and i've some questions because documentation is missing:
1. which is the difference from search and finder ?
2. is it possible to enable full text search (indexing pdf and doc/text files) ?
3. i've installed and enabled both but i don't see any search box on my site.. what's wrong ?

Hi,
1.) Phoca Download Search Plugin use the Joomla! Core Component 'Search'
Phoca Download Finder Plugin use the Joomla! Core Component 'Smart Search'
2.) Full Text search is possible with Joomla articles only (com_content articles), as far as I know.
PDFs not content, only name of the file. Same for .doc and .txt files. Also as far as I know and not sure. Try it out.
3.) You also need to install the Joomla! Core Modules 'Search' or 'Smart Search'
(Depends on which Joomla! Core Search Component you choose.)
The module must then be assigned to a module position.

How Smart Search works, you can try on my side. See signature.
