Missing manifest file –update problem

Post by dpollez »

Hi

I am having problems on a Joomla 3.10 website and it may be related to phoca download.

Under PHP 8.0 I can no longer perform updates and the error "Unknown extensions..." appears in the maintenance part of the website. Under HPH 7.4 this works.

Under Manage extensions I saw no author for a number of Phoca Download extensions. I only kept the core phocadownload and now it is only the dutch language pack that no longer has an author. I can't uninstall "nl-NL.com_phocadownload" version 2.1.9-3.0.3 either and an error appears when reinstalling.

Uninstall message: Warning - Package Uninstall: Missing manifest file.

Message when reinstalling “en-NL.com_phocadownload-2.1.9-3.0.3.zip”:
Warning - Extension Install: Another package is already using the named folder: .../administrator/manifests/packages/nl-NL.com_phocadownload. Are you trying to install the same extension again?

Any idea what's going wrong?

Thank you.

Didier.

Hi, can you paste a screenshot of the error message. I have no experiences with some language file can prevent from updating other extensions

Hi Jan
See attachment
Phil from musites.guru looked briefly at it and caught my attention on Phoca, see his comments/findings below:
"You should inspect each of the Extensions XML Manifests and see if you have one missing a NAME attribute as this is what Joomla is complaining about. "
"As Phoca is missing names in the Update Sites Table, I would start your hunt there… "

Thanks, Didier.

Hi, it depends on which package you exactly uninstall. If you uinstall language which does not have XML definition file, then you maybe should get such error, But most probably such language file will be not listed there. So the only idea for now which I have, is that the XML will be not right format or is corrupted or missing on the server

Thank you Jan

Perhaps the best approach is to manually uninstall everything but the core component. But I dare not do this without clear guidelines, can you give me this?

From the log file, below is a list of the extensions I reinstalled and then uninstalled all of them except these two:

nl-NL.com_phocadownload 2.1.9-3.0.3 (Author unknown) - Possibly this one causing the problem?
Phoca Download Component 3.2.3 (Author Jan Pavelka)

Didier.

reinstalled
component Phoca Download 3.2.3
module mod_phocadownload_chart_statistics 3.2.1
module mod_phocadownload_tree 3.2.1
plugin plg_content_phocadownload 3.2.1
plugin plg_editors-xtd_phocadownload 3.2.1
plugin plg_finder_phocadownload 3.2.1
package nl-NL.com_phocadownload 2.1.9-3.0.3
file Module Phoca Download Tree Nederlands 2.1.4
file Plugin Phoca Content Download Nederlands 2.1.4
file XTD Button Plugin Phoca Download - Nederlandse vertaling 2.1.4

Hi, you need to detect if the language file has manifest file or not. Some translations do not have manifest XML and are not installable or uninstallable and need to be removed on server directly. You don't need to manage other extensions as the problematic file is only the translation file.

Hi Jan.
I have removed all "phoca" language files in language/nl-NL and in administrator/language/nl-NL and everything works perfectly again, also under PHP 8.0. So something is clearly wrong with one of the PHOCA NL language files.
Thank you!
Didier.
