My issue is that I cannot get any files to display in the menu item I have created for Phoca Download. No doubt I've missed something very simple, even in writing this I found something that I'd missed.
I am a total beginner with Joomla but have managed to create a reasonable web page for a club that I'm a member of.
I am running Joomla 5.1.2 and have just installed Phoca download 5.0.10 via the extensions installation page in Joomla dashboard.
I am using SP Pagebuilder for some parts of my site.
I have manually loaded some PDF files into the phocadownload folder.
In the Joomla System menu under installed extensions I can see Phoca Download listed
Under the Components menu I can see Phoca Download and a series of sub items from 'Control Panel' to 'Info' but almost every entry in those sub items lists no data and it feels like I should be able to see file names in there, especially in the Files item.
I have created a menu item which shows in my main menu and when I click on it it brings up a new page with the 'Newsletters' category but there are no files listed below it.
What should I look at to work out what is stopping my files from showing up?

Hi,
The easiest and fastest way to create categories and files in Phoca Download is, to create the complete folder and file structure locally on your PC:
Then transfer your files and (Sub)Folders via FTP to your:
/phocadownload/
folder at your server:
Then go to: Backend --> Components --> Phoca Download --> Files
and click 'Multiple Add' Button:
Select all folders for which you want to create categories, subcategories, subsub... etc. and Phoca Download files. If you do not set any further parameters here, your categories will automatically be named like the corresponding folders and subfolders on the server and your Phoca Donload files will be named like the corresponding files on the server:
Categories and subcategories and Phoca Download files have been created:

Create a menu link of the type Phoca Download 'List of Categories':

Phoca Download categories view in frontend:

I can't say from here exactly which step you're missing, but maybe you're just missing the click on the 'Multiple Add' button?

Re: Absolute beginner - Can't get files to show.
Thankyou Benno, That was exactly what I needed.
I had everything else there but I had missed the Multiple Add button. For some reason I assumed Phoca would scan the directory automatically but it makes sense that you have to actually initiate it and decide on when documents are published etc.
Now I just need to experiment with how the data is to be categorised.
Out of interest is there a beginners document somewhere that I missed that contains this information?
Cheers Ian

Hi,
No, unfortunately there is no such manual for Phoca Download, but there is one for Phoca Gallery, which is not as detailed and illustrated. However, a beginner cannot know that Phoca Download and Phoca Gallery behave identically at this point (Multiple Add button).
Kind regards,
Benno
