Hi Jan,

I had a look at this and you are right, it'a a string about thumbnail loading (COM_PHOCACART_CHECKING_IMAGE_THUMBNAIL_PLEASE_WAIT) in a Javascript function of product edit view (/administrator/index.php?option=com_phocacart&view=phocacartitem&layout=edit&id=xxx) that's causing the problem because of a ' in the middle of it in french. Unfortunately we have many ' in the french language so probably it won't be the only one in that case :(

Well, it seems that day I decide to take time to install the French package, we have a problem.
Is it worth trying or will it mess up my website?
I am running Joomla 3.8.13 and updated Phoca Cart just yesterday
Thanks, Joanie

Hi Joanie,

Well it will not really mess up your whole website and you can uninstall it easily if needed but actually there is a least one place where a ' in the french translation cause troubles with a function so maybe it's better to wait for Jan's feedback or if you want to test it before change the translation for COM_PHOCACART_CHECKING_IMAGE_THUMBNAIL_PLEASE_WAIT to remove the '.

Have a nice day.

Hi, the translation file is only text file (INI format) so in case, there is some syntax mistake (e.g. missing ", etc.) then the only one problem on the site is not translated content but this error does not influence the function of the component.

Hi Jan,

In fact the problem is not a missing " but a single quote (') in the french translation of some strings used in a javascript function related to product images thumbnails.

Probably you use single quotes in your function and that's why it generates errors. We can probably go through by escaping it (\') in the translation but I did not find the time to check it.

Have a nice day.

Hi, the translation is: COM_PHOCACART_SOMETHING="Some'thing" and the ' should be Ok even in JS as this should be automatically escabed there

Sorry for the late answer Jan, too much to do and days are too short :(

One of the concerned string is COM_PHOCACART_CHECKING_IMAGE_THUMBNAIL_PLEASE_WAIT but it's not the only one and even if it seems strange to you it causes a javascript issue except if removing the ' in the translation as you can see in this screenshot :

Image

And by the way I get another small glitch in the backend and this one even with no language pack installed. The multiple select lists slip under the fields below because of the fixed height of the container in your bootstrap grid CSS : #adminForm .chzn-container { height: 42px !important;}

Here is the screenshot :

Of course, it's not a very important issue but it's still a bit annoying for users so if it can be corrected in next version, it would be great

Have a nice day !
