I have 60 or so files in 7 different categories, all of which have file setting:
access:registered
display inaccessible files: yes
and category settting:
access: registered
the problem is that when a registered user has logged in, they are still not able to download and files.
any help getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated.

Re: logging into site doesn't allow downloads
Hi, do you get any error there, when downloading as registered?
Check if e.g. some user is not selected in file administration, there you can set group: registered and user - specific user so when e.g. some user is selected, no one from registered can download

Re: logging into site doesn't allow downloads
when i am logged in as a registered user and try to download a file I get a message that says "Message Please login to download the file"
And in the file menu, there are no users given specific access. that is, all files are set to registered. Category Access however, is now set to public.
I am using a new plug in for managing users. Is it possible that Phoca Download is checking a directory for user info that is no longer relevant?

Re: logging into site doesn't allow downloads
Hi, if you are registered and still get the error message, this means, the file can be download only by specific user or by other than registered group.
No, Phoca Download just checks the rights for the files and categories.

I think I'm having the same problem here. Now forgive me if this sounds like a silly question, but if I understand correctly, I need to add new users to to a group with permissions to download. Is there a way to enable this automatically?

Re: logging into site doesn't allow downloads
Hi Jan,
Thanks for working through this with me. I have attached some back end screenshots which show the file, category, and user settings I have in place for all of these documents. What would you recommend that I change?

Re: logging into site doesn't allow downloads
I made the change you suggested, but now the category is not visible on the front end to even test if the download functions. I've included new screenshots. hopefully everything is behaving normally, and I have just set things up incorrectly.
Thanks for your help

Re: logging into site doesn't allow downloads
you should be able to set the group that new registrations are added to through the users manager under global configuration. if you want to have people sorted into different categories, i'm not sure how to do that.lukerjbgv wrote:I think I'm having the same problem here. Re: logging into site doesn't allow downloads
Hi, in Phoca Download, there is working standard ACL plus as bonus you can define each user, what this mean:
:: Standard ACL - you can select groups which can download/access the files but plus
:: when you select the registered users as group, you can even more specify e.g. only one unique user
So as default, if you want that only registered can download the file, you need to set:
Access: Registered and nothing more
If you want to specify it, you set
Access Rights: Selected users
So on the screenshot there were selected specific user, which means only this specific user can download, so when all registered should be able to download, the selected user needs to be deselected.
