Is the guide for migraton https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-phoca/ ... o-joomla-3 also for updating an existing site? Is it possible to just disable phoca components (maps, downloads and favicon) and install the new components?

Hi, it is a migrate guide, not update - Mostly when doing migrate, new instance will be done, which will be tested and then the site will be switched to the new instance.
Yes, you can use it for the "update" too - you will just export the database queries and then you will remove Phoca tables. You will install new components in Joomla! 3 and then you will run the exported SQL queries - of course, it is recommended to make backups. But, yes, in fact the guide can be used on one instance (where you will delete old instance before installing new)
