Problem in download link

Post by benglish »

Hi pals,
I have installed Phoco Download on Joomla 3. I uploaded a .pdf file in "/home/<user_name>/public_html/phocadownload/" set the access level of the file to Public and also created the token. When I set the URL to the token URL for a front-end user to download the file, I receive a "404 - Not Found" message
I was wondering if you'd mind helping me with the problem!

Downloading is solved by making a download menu :)
I thought it is possible to make a link to an uploaded file from anywhere in the website :D

But I have another problem :D
Since each file is for one user, how is it possible to show the download link to just one of the users? In other words, I want the download link to be shown to only the user I want! But how?

Hi, in administration - in file edit, you can set access rights for the user

Dear Jan,

Since I am newbie to Phocadownload and Joomla, could you please tell me what steps I should take exactly?
When I go to "Files" menu in Phoca control panel and edit a file, there is a field named "Access", but I cannot choose a specific user! I can just choose "Public, Registered, etc."!

Dear benglish
These are groups. You have to put your users in diffrent groups and then set how much they can access in via this menu.

example:
non registered users are automaticly in public.
normal users in registered and people which have to edit your page in editors.
then you are able to set the access rights of registered users to read only and editors access rights to read and write.
This way you can grant diffrent access levels to diffrent users

Greetings
Andreas
