direct link for downloads not working - opens logout page

Hi, here is a link without SEF:
http://www.cost-hint.cnrs.fr/index.php? ... Itemid=116
(As mentioned, the result is the same as SEF link: when logged in, this link redirects to the logout page instead of downloading the file.)
In Phocadownload, this file is set as access = registered. So it is normal that you cannot access it. I understood that you wanted an example of a non-public file. Let me know if that is not correct. I could also create a login for you, or send you the passphrase to register and create a login yourself.

Hi, I see one problem there which occurs on some servers only (didn't get any information why it occurs and this is only on some servers). This problem is maybe not related to this topic, but it must be tested.

Please set the aliases without numbers: "fp7-logo" alias to "fp-logo" as the 7 can confuse the SEF system.

So the link should be:
.../index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=category&download=3:fp-logo&id=6:logos-and-banners&Itemid=116
not:
.../index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=category&download=3:fp7-logo&id=6:logos-and-banners&Itemid=116

to be really sure, the alias is managed correctly and we really are inside the 3.

Then I get another system message there. So please test to remove numbers from aliases and let me know (so we will know, it is the problem or it is not)

no luck, I modified the alias and tried both versions of the link with and without SEF:
http://www.cost-hint.cnrs.fr/index.php/ ... =3:fp-logo
same file without SEF:
http://www.cost-hint.cnrs.fr/index.php? ... Itemid=116
...and the result is the same: redirection to logout
I also tried the inverse: I took a public file (where the direct download DOES work), and added a number to the alias: It still works!
So there is no link between the 'download problem' and the presence of numbers in the alias.
Btw have you tried the same with a non-public file on your own server ?

Is it a Windows-only problem ?
Latest Intelligence: I tried the "direct download link" on several machines: Windows 7 (Firefox and IE) and Linux/Unix (Centos 5.11, Firefox), and found that only on Windows it does not work. On Linux, the file is downloaded ok.
So it seems to be a client problem or perhaps client-server-relation problem.
I tried on both Firefox and Internet Explorer, with the same result, so it is not the browser either.

yes, very mysterious. My Windows is nothing special, so I would guess that other users discovered the same problem.
I'll try some othe Windows computers / versions, but for now I'm off to holidays...
