Hello,

I can confirm this error, it occurs since the upgrade to joomla 3 and the latest phoca download version.

Download instead of preview happens on IE Firefox and Chrome. In addition when Google Docs is enabled on Chrome, an empty preview box is displayed.

Some background facts which may help to find the bug:

- Joomla was updated from 2.5.x to 3.3.3
- Phoca Download was updated from the Joomla 2.x version
- There was no upgrade option after installing Phoca Download and there were some database problems.
- A style table had to be created and filled manually
- Two fields had to be created in the phocadownload table manually
- Some styles had to be enabled manually to display the buttons

In the working version within joomla 2.5, the pathes for download and preview were already set to 'phocadownload' both, no 'phocadownloadpap'.
All fields 'filename_preview' are (and were) set to the contents of the field 'filename' so the preview button does occur.

I also tried different templates to ensure there is no template-related problem.

Used language was and is german.

However, Phoca Download is a great component!

Best regards,
HH

Hi, can I see the site where this occurs. This should be a problem of browser/output not of internal functions  As seen on previous screenshot, the preview works normally

Hello,
Jan wrote:This should be a problem of browser/output not of internal functions
Sorry I don't think so.
Recent tests with iOS and Android show the same behaviour as in Chrome: empty preview window.

Before the upgrade to Joomla 3 I made a copy of the whole Joomla 2.5 site and the database on the same server (Synology DS413).
The old version works perfect on the same server as the new one and with all client types, including the preview.

So I presume the problem is

- in Joomla 3
- in Phoca Download for Joomla 3
- language related
- platform related (e.g. usage of Intel-related binaries etc, had this in another Joomla extension)
- an upgrade problem
- a total mistery

Best regards,
HH

Mostly if the PDF will be displayed in browser or will be download - this depends on browser and OS

Hello,

sorry, it is an intranet site for the archive of our local tram museum.

We did some research in the meantime.

After the discovery that the preview DOES work for everything but PDF (99.99999% of our documents) we removed everything PDF-related on clients and server, then reinstalled Firefox and Chrome.
And it works - for these two browsers.

Still no function with IE, iOS and Android.

And - to make it worse - the Joomla 2.5 version still works on all clients.

:x

I still believe in an upgrade issue.

Regards,
HH

Hmm, really no idea what can be wrong there, if it works in standard browser, this means, there is no error on the server

Are you able to paste the created pdf somewhere so I can take a look at its source

Do you use some specific system plugins? Maybe some system plugins somehow differentiate between the browsers and produce some error (maybe can be seen in errorLog on the server  )

Hi Phoca, My requirement to display secured pdf file ( only view, no download and no print). I have restricted pdf file by hiding tool bar, menu bar and restricted to print and edit through acrobat and uploaded only into preview mode. But my issue is :x while preview in "modal box" window, when putting cursor over the pdf, a semi transparent tool bar is appearing which is allowing to download. Please help me how to disable this pdf tool bar.
I have tried by Deselect "Display in Read Mode by default" in pdf preference option but no use.
Please help me to get rid of this issue.

Hi, I think, these all are browsers, maybe OS, maybe PDF features so I think, you cannot do anything on your server to prevent it.

The best way is to do two different PDFs - one for download - complete - behind access rights, second - e.g. only table of contents to preview
