I am preparing to upgrade Joomla from 2.5 to 3.x. I am currently using Phoca Guestbook 2.0.7. I see that the version for Joomla 3.x is 3.0.4. Will I be able to upgrade Joomla while Phoca Guestbook is only 2.0.7?
Thanks.
Daryl

Re: Upgrading Joomla from 2.5 to 3.x
I have not read the documentation thoroughly, just a quick review. I'll read it in more detail when I have a bit more time, but right now I have a question that I don't see in the documentation.
The documentation say's to ensure that the latest version's are all updated. No issues there. Later, the documentation say's to have the latest compatible Joomla 3.x version of Phoca products installed. I'm assuming that is after I perform the upgrade to Joomla 3.x, correct?
I tried test upgrades of Joomla a couple of times, and they all fail, I'm thinking because of the current installed versions of the Phoca products are all incompatible with Joomla 3.x. Do I need to uninstall all Phoca products before I upgrade? If I do, this would really mess up my site.
How is the best way to upgrade because the current Phoca products installed are not compatible with Joomla 3.x. The documentation doesn't say what to do with the currently installed products, or at least not from what I see during my quick review.
Thanks
Daryl

Re: Upgrading Joomla from 2.5 to 3.x
I've read the documentation thoroughly and I did not find an answer to my earlier question.
I can't upgrade Joomla from 2.5 to 3.x because the Phoca products that I am using are not compatible. How is the best way to move forward with the upgrade? Do I first uninstall all Phoca products, upgrade to Joomla 3.x, then reinstall Phoca Products to the correct version? What will that do to my site, database etc???
Please advice the best method in which to upgrade without causing problems with my site.
Thank you.
Daryl

Re: Upgrading Joomla from 2.5 to 3.x
Hi,
1.)Backup your complete system before you do anything else!! (Database and FTP files)
2.) Upgrade your Joomla! v2.5.x system to Joomla! v2.5.28.
3.) Upgrade your Phoca Components to the current J2.5. versions.
4.) Do the Database exports as described in the guide, I linked for you.
5.) Uninstall all Phoca Components, Phoca Modules & Phoca Plugins
6.) Upgrade your Joomla! v2.5.28 system to Joomla! v 3.4.8
7.) Install the current Joomla! v3.x Phoca Components Phoca Modules & Phoca Plugins
8.) Import the data as described in the guide, I linked for you.
Kind regards,
Benno
