Hello,
My english is not the best so excuse me if I'm not specific enough.
I'm asked by a friend if it's possible , when a file is added to a folder , an email is automatically sent to the relevant public.

Hi, when user upload a file in frontend, one selected user will be informed - such user can be selected in Options.

Thanks for your quick answer. I didn't know it was possible to upload from frontend. So I went to the documentation and foud that link https://www.phoca.cz/documents/17-phoca- ... n-frontend

Creating menu link to User Upload Layout - go to Administration - Menu Manager - e.g. Main Menu - create new menu link - select Phoca Download and click User Upload Layout. Set the name for this menu link and set parameters.
Parameter Enable User Upload must be set to Yes (or Use Global in case, it was set in Global Configuration of Phoca Download - in Joomla! 1.5). It is recommended to set all other upload parameters (because of security)
Users need to get upload rights for specific category. It means, you should go to Administration - Phoca Download - Categories. Select a category and edit it (or create new one). In edit mode of the category, select which users will have upload rights to this category.

First :I can't find (or understand) the option User upload layout in the choices
and so can't go on !

Second : I've created categories of users in Joomla ; then I created articles in PhocaDL and put these ones in various folders. My need is to inform all users having access to these folders of the existence of new articles.

Hello,
Finally I saw another extension from Phoca : Phoca Email.
My problem would be now a bit different : would it be possible when a file is added to get the list of users of the group and send them an alert through Phoca Email ?

Hi, Phoca Email sends email when user (administrator) sends them, the function in Phoca Download is automatic, this means if you need to send email when the file is uploaded, I think, it is better to modify the email function in Phoca Download

Thanks for the following of my problem. OK let's stay in phoca download as you think better.
But my level is so low that it's impossible for me to :
- constitute thee list of users of a group for which a download is added
- sen email to that list
If you or another user can detail the solution, I'm hearing !

Try using an email distribution list as the notification email for forwarding to a group

Hi, yes, for now, there is a parameter to select only one user and sent to only one user.

So the customization means, the select box will be multiple for more users (like it can be seen by access rights) and then the send email function will not get the string of one email, but array of more emails, but yes, all this needs to be customized in the code
