Which joomla! version do you use?
Which Phoca Gallery Component version do you try to install?
Which PHP version do you use?
Is it an update or an install of Phoca Gallery?
Have you already tried downloading Phoca Gallery again and installing this version again?

Hi, the error message says, that you are updating Phoca Gallery but one table (#__phocagallery_categories) is missing in your database. So seems there are information about Phoca Gallery in your Joomla! but some of the tables are missing.

So no depends on which data you have stored in your Phoca Gallery (if it will be possible to make new install (all data will be lost) or somehow fix the tables in database manually)

This site is a new site with zero content. This is the first component that I have attempted to install. After the fail, I installed Akeebackup, and it completed without error. After the first attempt failure of Phoca Gallery, I re-attempted the install, unsuccessfully. I will delete the entire site, and databases, etc, and start over. Update coming soon. Thank you.

Update - Resolved

The Joomla site was initially a 1-click install from DreamHost.com. There must have been something in their one-click installation that caused an issue with installing the Phoca Gallery.

Note this was a new site with ZERO content...

Here's what I did to resolve the issue:

1) Wiped the entire site directory, and deleted all tables

2) Downloaded and installed Joomla from the Joomla repository

3) Performed a fresh install, following the standard Joomla installation

4) Downloaded and installed the Phoca Gallery from the Phoca website

Success!
