Preview file not updated

Hello,

I have an issue with the preview of a download. If I have a modified file and I upload that again to the same location. So the filename is the same and in the admin panel I re-select the file. Now I clear the cache of both the site and the admin. Clicking on the preview button shows me the old file (with physically doesn't exits anymore).

Also I would want to be able to delete the file (both physical and in the database) without removing the "Phoca file" in the admin. If you get what I mean.

Hi,
are you sure you did the file update in the /phocadownloadpap/ directory also?
Because if you have not specified a different directory in Phoca Download Options, the preview of a file will be used from there.

Yes I did, multiple times even. I also removed the file by FTP from the downloadpap folder.
What I did (for now) is point both the download and preview to the download folder (so not the pap), I get a warning when I save the item about not being able to copy the file from the download folder to the view folder (which is logic, since it is the same). But it works and saves space.

If you link direct the file, do you get the new version? (with direct, I mean, just set the path to url and test if this file is accessible)

Hi,

Oke, I've done the following:

1. I set the preview folder back to "phocadownloadpap".
2. I have downloaded the original document in phocadownload.
3. Now I edit this downloaded document (pdf) on my pc (added a scribble).
4. In the admin part I update both the download and the preview documents by uploading the edited document (with the same names as the originals).
5. After saving I refresh my site (Ctrl+F5) and click on preview: I see the none edited, thus original file.
6. Clicking download I get redirected to the specific download page and there I download the edited file.

Using the direct link I get the edited file as well.

Hi Christine,

That setting was already on Yes, so that should not be the issue.

I think it has something to do with a cache, even though I deleted those via the admin side.

Hi, yes, try to clean the cache in the browser and even in Joomla! (if used). Check if the file including path in edit is OK too.

Thanks for the help,

I've setup the phocadownload as follows: Both the download and the preview point to the same folder, this gives a warning in the edit part when saving the item (not being able to copy the file from download to preview folder), but that doesn't influence the outcome. I'll leave it like this for now.
