Use Joomla-Search to find products - is that possible?

Hi Jan!

Is there a chance to use Joomla´s search function to search for products in Phoca Cart?
I know, that there is a module, but I have a Search Field in the header of the page so many visitors will use this and will wonder if they don´t find any info about products.

Hi, for now, there is no such search plugin. I can imagine that the standard plugin can search products and link them to product page. The problem is, the standard serch was removed from Joomla 4, so it even needs to be found another feature (e.g. which will support index searching which is set in Joomla 4). The problem is to find someone who will write search plugin which will be not more used in Joomla because Joomla core developers removed it.

BTW - I got yesterday info, that there will be new ajax search plugin for Phoca Cart, so maybe this can be even another alternative. I will ask if this is a standalone solution or if this is a part of com finder core component. But I think, this would be some standalone solution.

Yes, Jan is correct about AJAX search. I have it installed on two Phoca Cart sites. Example on dev site here: https://webdev.sites.k-hosting.co.uk/

So, example search would be 'jelly babies' as this is the dev version of a live site.

Now works with Phoca Cart and you can set search results from: Title, Short description, Long Description, Features, Categories, Tags, Labels and SKU.
