Hi, I am using Phoca Gallery for years and up to now, changing joomla version was easy.
Can we install Phoca Gallery 4.5.0 on a Joomal 3.9 Site ?
I believe that this is not possible as the backend Images and Categories menu does not work anymore. Phoca Gallery 4.5.0 is not compatible with both Joomla 3.9 and Joomla 4 but with Joomla 4 only.
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-jooml ... o-joomla-4 gives a migration procedure more complicated than it used to be.
Is-it confirmed ?
Kind Regards

Re: Can we install Phoca Gallery 4.5.0 on a Joomal 3.9 Site ?
Hi Benno,
I have one question though: This migration guide reads as if migrating from an existing Joomla 3 installation to a new and fresh Joomla 4 installation. I understand to export files and database data in this case.
But what about upgrading an existing Joomla 3 installation to Joomla 4? Is this manual backup and restore procedure still necessary there? Or how to do such an in-place upgrade of Joomla 3 to 4 with Phoca extensions? Disable the version 3 compatible ones, let Joomla updater update to Joomla 4, and update Phoca extensions after that? Will it work or is it necessary to disable incompatible components before upgrading at all?
Kind regards,
Klaus

Hi,
1. Export and save database tables of Phoca J3x extensions. (See guide)
2. Uninstall all Phoca extensions.
3. Perform Joomla! migration J3x -->J4x
4. Install the needed Phoca extensions for J4x.
5. Import the previously exported and saved database tables. (See guide)
Kind regards,
Benno

Hi,
thank you.
I was afraid that this procedure would be necessary for upgrades too. :-( Much manual intervention.

Re: Can we install Phoca Gallery 4.5.0 on a Joomal 3.9 Site ?
I just did this procedure on our test site following the guide.
The site is now on latest Joomla 4.1.4 (at least this worked well).
Phoca Gallery and Phoca Download including all necessary plugins are installed and activated, data is there and database tables are populated from export backup (truncated the two tables first as advised). But both components do not work.
Backend:
When I call Phoca Download Component/Files or any other sub-entry: hash(): Argument #2 ($data) must be of type string, array given
When I call Phoca Gallery Component/Files or any other sub-entry: hash(): Argument #2 ($data) must be of type string, array given
… solved by disabling HttpHeader Plugin
Oh, I just opened an article and article editor also reports: hash(): Argument #2 ($data) must be of type string, array given
So something seems to be wrong after upgrading though the updater reported a successful upgrade.
… solved by disabling HttpHeader Plugin
Frontend:
Phoca Download Frontend looks like this: https://test.ulc-moedling.at/medien/ulc ... /dokumente
It looks good, but click on any category.
Phoca Gallery Frontend looks like this: https://test.ulc-moedling.at/medien/ulc-fotos/galerie
But it should look like this: https://www.ulc-moedling.at/medien/ulc-fotos/galerie
Backend issues solved, Frontend of Phoca extensions issues remain.
Any ideas?

Re: Can we install Phoca Gallery 4.5.0 on a Joomal 3.9 Site ?
Hi,
when you install a fresh Phoca Gallery, the options are set to default values. So you should note the parameters of your settings (options) of your 3.x Phoca Gallery and copy them to the options of your J4x Phoca Gallery.
The same applies to Phoca Download.
Kind regards,
Benno
