Posts started failing to show up in the frontend in the beginning of July, first on smartphones (Chrome). Yesterday (01-08) it failed on a tablet with Safari but it still worked on a pc with Firefox. Today it also failed on Firefox. My website is on Joomla 4.1.5 / Cassiopeia. The different times of failure are quite puzzling. PHP 7.4, 8.0 or 8.1 makes no difference.
Perhaps this is interesting: posting doesn't work from my own IP-address (Netherlands) but when I connect via a VPN (e.g. Belgium) then posting works fine. NB: IP-address checking is disabled in the guestbook. A colleague of mine is seeing the same behaviour. Jan, I hope this helps.
Hi Jan, I have all options under Security, Content check and IP address check at 'disabled'. The hnCaptcha is enabled. An other Captcha makes no difference.
On my own IP address entering the wrong Captcha gives the expected error message.
Entering the correct captcha reloads the form with no response at all.
I also tested VPN addresses in the Netherlands ad London. They work fine.
From my own IP address I can't get it working...
I just tested this.
With DE-IP only a new, empty form appears.
The operation is saved via VPN (Netherlands and Finland). I even get an email that a post has been posted.
I'm just finding out that everything is fine with a German VPN server!
Ho Jan, I see what you mean. However, my website is visited by tens of club members and they have various ISP's (KPN, Ziggo, T-Mobile) . None of them can post a message. Furthermore all IP-checking is disabled in the guestbook and a message with the wrong captcha is handled correctly.
We are also currently testing a guestbook from computers with different providers and thus IPs.
No entries are saved, only if you write via a vpn.
I'm currently on vacation in DK and was able to post an entry.
Of course, I also received an email about the new entry.
The problem must be somehow related to the German IP.
