Open Sea Map

Post by ManuB »

First of all, thanks for the PhocaMaps Joomla 4 extension which fits more than I expected.
I'm using it for marine related topics and I'm wandering if that could be possible to extend the map type with OpenSeaMaps

https://www.openseamap.org/

I'm not a developer, so I can't help so much but I saw in the link above it is part of the Open Street Map project so I guess it should be possible easily

I've also found what is looking like a bug related to links in markers description.
I'll send details in a separate post

Thanks for your support

Take care

Hi, the question is, if there is some API or some documentation of public url to access this map.

Hi, the question for now is not technical. The quesiton is if they have some public address so you can access the map tiles.

Hi Jan

The map can be access there : https://map.openseamap.org/

The nautical marks have to be displayed (they are by default)

Hi, I have seen this map and I have displayed even the API but I cannot find any information how to access the tiles.

Usualy the open free maps have URL addresses like this:

Code: Select all

https://{s}.tile.someurladdress.xx/tiles/folder/{z}/{x}/{y}.png

Hi Jan

I'd just realized the tiles are from OpenStreetMap,
Open SeaMap is adding overlays for lighthouses, marine marks, reefs
The Community members are addind those navigations aids to the OpenStreetMap database.

So I don't know if those additional OpenStreetMap informations can be overlayed to the standard OpenStreetMap in PhocaMaps.

Hi, hard to say, I don't have any experiences with this, only with just linking different tiles
