Preferred category for canonical links

Post by AweBlack »

Hello, I read a topic with request to add a preferred category for canonical link. This functionality is present in the latest versions, but how is it work? I chose preferred category, but URL link with product doesn't include rel="canonical" and in 4SEO component all links for products looks like the same ones. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? There is no description of this functionality in the documentation and I really don’t want to mark all the links manually for right SEO. Please, help me and I think not only me ))

Hi, in Phoca Cart, one product can have more categories and if there is a place where links to products are loaded from database and there are e.g. two links to one product possible, the preferred category will be used.

This info is used when selecting products but it can also be used for making cannonical links, but this depends on feature/extension which creates the links (for different reasons), so it can use this information to create right link. In Phoca Cart itself, there is no such feature, it just creates standard links set by Joomla menu links.

Thank you for the explanation. I was hoping that this function worked differently, I'll have to create a sitemap manually, but at least 4SEO sees duplicates.
