Adding extra images to existing albums

Hi,

I followed the excellent advice given in this forum and have mastered uploading zip files, setting up file structures, importing all images to new categories and generating thumbnails.

How can I easily and quickly upload and add additional images in the back end to the existing categories without duplicating the existing images during the 'Import new images' stage, and creating unwanted duplicate and wrongly named new categories such as "Introduction - Plants - Plants" when the images should have gone into the existing "Introduction - Plants" category?

images > (Filter options) select your (wanted) (sub) category > Multiple Add

I have followed your instructions, however, during the next stage when the new images are imported into the category, it re-imports the original images as well, so I end up with a lot of duplications. What do you recommend?

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately, I don't know why you have duplicates. Maybe it belongs to point 1 or point 3 > correct category selected?

Sorry for the delay in responding. Importing single images is now the last importing issue I have (hopefully).
When importing a single image, is it OK to select the containing folder the image is in or do I have to go inside the folder and find and click only the image I need to import?

I have tried clicking the containing folder, but this is when it re-imports all its files, so I get duplications.

Thank you for your answer, Benno. I was hoping you were not going to say that.

I was wrongly selecting the containing folder, which is presumably why I kept getting duplicate images. It's a shame that selecting the folder doesn't ignore existing images inside the folder and only add new images. May I suggest this as a feature request, please? That would make importing new images from existing folders much more easy.

Hi, see similar posts in this forum, this is related to independend database and file system layer in Phoca Gallery. In case the folder has the same name like category, only new images will be added (no duplicates).
