I am running Joomla 4.3.4, and also these Phoca products:
Phoca Download 4.0.9
Button Plugin 4.0.4
Download Plugin 4.0.6
The system will NOT save any change or addition to any of the file entries stored in Phoca Download. In the FILES section, I can upload files, edit existing records, or add new records - but when I click on the "SAVE" or "SAVE AND CLOSE" - the software does nothing.
Also, one other odd point. When I was running Joomla 3 (well over a year ago), I had Phoca Download 3.2.3 installed. I then migrated to Joomla 4, and updated Phoca Download to the versions you see listed above.
The "info" page for Phoca Download still displays that I am running Version 3.2.3. It did NOT update to the current versions listed above as I would expect, but the software functioned properly. Your Version Checker page on your website apparently reads the Version information from the Info page in my Phoca Download installation, since your checker states (incorrectly) that I'm currently running version 3.2.3 when in fact I am running 4.0.9 (Phoca Download Component). I would prefer if it could accurately show the installed version - so this is less than ideal.
I see there is a newer version of Phoca download (com_phocadownload_v5.0.10). It shows that it is compatible with Joomla v4, but could or would this potentially help with the problems I have stated?
Note that I am currently running PHP version 8.2.25
I appreciate if you could help me understand what needs to be done to allow me to SAVE a change or addition of a record.

Hi,
We also do not know whether you did the migration as described here:
https://www.phoca.cz/documentation/86-j ... o-joomla-4
Kind regards
Christine
It's outdated from aug 2023. Update to the latest Joomla version 4.4.9

Install above PD download and install the original version over it. Do not uninstall the previous version. We cannot yet say whether this alone will help.I see there is a newer version of Phoca download (com_phocadownload_v5.0.10). It shows that it is compatible with Joomla v4, but could or would this potentially help with the problems I have stated?

Hi Christine,
Thanks for your comments.
I have never seen that migration procedural guide - so no I did not follow it. I'll review it carefully and do what its saying to do.
I am confused by your sentence that says "Install above PD download and install the original version over it. Do not uninstall the previous version. We cannot yet say whether this alone will help."
Are you saying to install the 5.0.10, then install the "original" version over it. What original version is that exactly?
Thanks for your comments.

Hi,
Update to the latest Joomla version 4.4.9, see above.
What I meant is: Download PD 5.0.10 and install it via the extensions package. Without uninstalling the older version first.
Kind regards
Christine

Re: Phoca Download 4.0.9 will not save change or edit
Hi Christine,
I reviewed that guide. I have exported a copy of sll the Phoca Download related SQL tables (data only as it said). I will next update Joomla as soon as I can verify the extensions are compatible.
Then I’ll upgrade Phoca Download to the 5.0.10 version.
If that fixes the problem - great. I suspect it will not fix the problem. I see two two options:
1. Delete the entire Phoca extension, plugins, etc (and all data), then reinstall 5.0.10 and then import the SQL tables into PhpAdmin.
2. The other option would be to delete everything, then reinstall 5.0.10 - then rebuild the entire database by recreating the entire database manually. I have about 150 entries, and I have captured the entire database category and file structure, as well as all names, aliases, Record IDs, etc. I would need to rebuild it in such a way that I recreate all the URL strings exactly as it was before - for SEO purposes.
Also, when it comes time to move to Joomla 5, will it be necessary to repeat the SQL database export and then reimport it into Joomla 5? Or will I be able to upgrade it using Joomla’s Extension Manager. I assumed that (incorrectly) last time which it how I got to where I am now .
Thanks

Hi,
1) you can use standard update feature in Joomla or
2) the upgrade procedure
When using the upgrade procedure, you are 100% that your database structure is fully compatible. Because when upgrading, the database structure is completely new.
There are mostly no changes between J4 and J5 in the field of database structure so mostly it is safe to use Joomla update system but to e 100% sure the upgrade method should be used.

Re: Phoca Download 4.0.9 will not save change or edit
ok, thank you Jan.
I'll get the Joomla upgrade done, then work on the Phoca Download portion.
I'll reply back to close that loop.
Thanks for your input.
