Have you tried to set the preferences?

Components/Phocagallery/images.

You will see Preferences in the right upper corner of your screen.

First thank you for this great component, I was happy to contribute to help you.

I have the same problem: sort by date seems to don't work properly or I don't understood...
Is it indexed on modified, created or taken date ?

it seems to be indexed on "modified date", is it possible to add sorting by "taken date"

Again: have you tried the preferences?

Components / Phoca Gallery / Controle Panel.

In the upper right corner you will see the button Preferences, under the log-out click.

In the popup about halfways you will find General settings, in which you can set the order of categories an images.

Hi,

Thank you for your tip but maybe you read too quickly my question.

The date sorting seems to be based on modified date and ot on created or taken date. so the pictures are sorted by date when the pics have been copied to the hardisk and not when the pics have been taken. (file information vs exif information)

Jan do you have a solution or a project to sort pics by taken date ?

there is no such option (getting date from image). I have added it to feature request list.

Great Jan, thank you again for your great job.

My work around is to export (Lightroom) with the taken date/time as start of my name file :
20091005-0810filename
20091005-0811filename
20091009-0930filename
...

But of course is not very nice.

Is somebody has a solution (script, Tool, command line, etc) to replace the date of the file by the date of the taken picture ?

Hi, the ordering by date takes the date of saving the image into your system, so there is no option to sort by exif date now

To sort the items, you need to load the data from database always, so the way to sort by EXIF date should be - storing the date when adding the images to the system.

Added to feature request list.
