Cannot turn thumbnails back on (1.5.15)

Strangest thing. Had it all up and running fine - plenty images all categorised & thumbed. Hit a space limit on the server without knowing and uploaded half an image with an error. Since that, new images do not create thumbs nor do they show on the front end despite being listed and viewable in the backend. I have trawled and trawled (took some time to locate the component parameters as there is no button in the Phoca module menu but finally found it via the menu manager) - have set pagination to 'no' and thumb creation to 'yes' (both from Global) to no avail. Completely boggled. Oh for a time capsule on this one

Hi, did you remove the faulty image? the image itself, the thumbnails and the database entry? I had a similar behavior once, resulting from an error during upload... maybe that helps.

Thanks so much for replying. I did remove the image - I also imagined a delete would remove thumbnails too but have now removed all of them. I am not sure about database entry (where is the deletion for that). However I have tried new images and again they are visible in the media manager but only as blanks in the Gallery and no thumbnails are created. I have triple checked that all their settings are identical to those that are up there and still working. I have also reverted pagination and thumbnails creation parameters to global and done a global check in - again to no avail ! Hours and hours...I am getting desperate. Anyone expert and kind enough to look under the bonnet for me ? Please...

as for the database entry: I deleted it directly in the database table (phoca images), using phpmysql.

Is the thumbnail creating enabled in parameters?

Thumbnail creation was set to Global, I changed it to 'yes' (and pagination to 'no') but made no difference so changed it back again. Completely stumped here. Only clue I have is that when I try to add images from the backend I see a briefly flashed message indicating a java applet error. It disappears immediately. I am thinking that it is time to reinstall the module.

When I load from frontend as user with admin priviledges as I say the image gets saved in the gallery folder (correct category) but doesn't create any thumbs and just appears as a blank on the Gallery page - see www.thistleworth.com >gallery > marina photos (contemporary).

I am grateful for any pointers..

Have now taken down blank images but happy to upload another and give access to anyone prepared to have a look..

You should check permissions and ownership of your files and folders, try to enable ftp layer, check your GD library too.

Thanks for replies. Checked all as suggested but no result. Re-installed Phoca from scratch and working again. Something broken by over-running space limit on server I think. Alls well that ends....
