Hi.
It doesn't need to be only problem with the path... The image is displayed only if no other data will be sent to the browser... so if e.g. some error is sent to the browser (you will not see it because captcha alt attribute will be displayed in captcha area), image will be not displayed too...
The path is made by Joomla! framework...
components\com_phocaguestbook\views\phocaguestbook\tmpl\default.php
