Phoca Gallery Slideshow image size default

Post by Clarkey »

Hi folks,
I'm new to Joomla and Phoca extensions - and I'm very impressed so far!

Sorry if this has been asked before but I found nothing through searching. I have installed Phoca Gallery and the Slideshow plugin, together with the editor button. If I add a slideshow into an article, the image size defaults to 640 x 480. I don't see the option to set slideshow image sizes in the Gallery component or Slideshow plug-in. Can I change these in a setting or file somewhere - as my users will forget and the default values make the pages render badly.
Thanks for some great Joomla extensions!
Keith..

Hi, you can set it in parameters in Phoca Gallery Slideshow, you can use Phoca Gallery Button Plugin for adding such parameters too, see:

Hi Jan,
Thanks for the response and sorry - my question was not clear.

I am using the phocagallery button to add slideshows to articles but the default image size is too big for my site's page width. So, before I let other content managers start to use this button, I would like to change the default image width (set by using the button) to 550px.

Is there a slideshow editor button configuration file I can edit or do we need to change the every slideshow manually?
Thanks
Keith..

Hi, you can set the type of thumbnails which will be taken, if this will be large thumbnail then the images have the size which is set in global configuration of Phoca Gallery component (real sizes of thumbnails) So you can set this to lower size, make the thumbnails in component and then you need not to resize the slideshow images.

Jan,
Sorry, but I don't see how changing the default thumbnail size relates to embedding a Slideshow (of large size images) into an article.

If I click the Phoca Gallery Image button in the Article Editor and select a Slideshow, I see a dialogue box. This box has a category pick-list and then two numerical boxes for Slideshow Width (defaults to 640px) and Slideshow Height (480px). I would like to edit the parameter file behind this dialogue box, to change these defaults values to 600 and 450 px. This would then match the settings we have for large size images in the gallery component.

If it's not possible, I just have to train my users to change the values for every slideshow they embed. It's not a huge problem - it's just annoying if users forget, as 640px makes the page body too wide for our template and sidebars get corrupted. It would just be easier if the defaults could be adjusted to fit our pages, as with standard large images.
Best,
Keith..

Hi Jan, anything beyond replacing a text-file string is too scary for me - I'll solve it through training and documentation!
Best,
