I'll try to break this down as best I can
I have 2 Parent Gallery categories. We'll call them PG1 & PG2
Inside these parent categories, I have several galleries
In my top menu, I have 2 links for the galleries
Link 1 goes to PG1 in a "Phoca Gallery Category Layout"
Link 2 goes to PG2 in a "Phoca Gallery Category Layout"
As you know, this will show a thumb for all child galleries of PG1 & PG2
A visitor must be registered with the site in order to view the galleries.
But what I would like to do is make it so non registered visitors can view the main page of each Parent Gallery; so they can see the thumbs for each child gallery, but not access the child galleries until they're registered or logged in.
I've tried making the menu item itself public, but when you click on the link, it returns an unauthorized to view error.
So, leaving the menu item public, I tried setting PG1 & PG2 as public, while leaving all the child galleries as registered... but upon doing this visitors are able to view each gallery without being logged in/registered.
Is there any way I can display the contents of PG1 and PG2 (just the thumb for each child gallery located within the parent category); a preview of our galleries if you will; without actually displaying the full galleries until they login or register?
Thank you for any insight you may be able to provide.

Hi, I think no... Phoca Gallery doesn't work with registered or non-registered users , so if you use the links for this it works as you described...

Hi, try new version (1.6.7)
* Added Public/Register/Special Access behaviour for categories. You can define that e.g. only registered users can see the category.
* Category can be displayed only for specifed user(s). You can define, that only User X or User Y can see the category.
* You can hide or display the back button in category view (e.g. if you use breadcrumbs).
* TinyMCE editor added into a description of an image. The text can be formatted.
