custom font in phoca font

Post by sallymc »

Hi there
I'm a newbie to this and could do with some help uploading a custom font to PhocaFont.
I want to upload Humanist 521.
I have the ttf file but when I try to upload it it says it can't find the install file.
Sorry if I'm missing something obvious but would appreciate a pointer in the right direction...
Many thanks

Hi, download some of the font here:
https://www.phoca.cz/download/category/4 ... font-fonts

and see how the font package should be built.

For installation of component, plugin, font, see this video:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/55-phoca- ... stallation

Hi Jan
Thanks very much for getting back to me.
I have downloaded one of the fonts and seen what's in it. How do I build these other files as all I have is a ttf file?
Sorry to be so useless

I appear to have fixed the package problem, and it has now uploaded but it's not appearing on my site...
I've tried installing one of your example fonts to make sure it's not me making an error with my font package, but that's not working either...
Could it be something to do with a conflict with my template? I used artisteer to design it...

Hi, check all the css of your site, if there are no overwriting the font-family attribute.

I want to use the Phoca Font, but I can't get a zip file. How do I have to maken one? I only have a .ttf file. And looked into the example zip files of Phoca. I see that there are several files: .xml .eot .txt and an index.html. But I only have the .ttf. So how can I get the other files?

Could you please help me on this?

Hi, the ttf needs to be translated to eot if you want it will work in IE browsers (check google for ttf to eot software), index.html you can copy from other package, the xml needs to be created - it includes information about all the font package (you can get info from some current xml and see what all must be included in xml)

Thank you for your answer.
I have now a zip file with in it:
.eot file
.ttf file
index.html
.xml file

In the .xml file I have only references to the other 3 files. Names are right. When I try to upload the zip file in the Phocafonts, I get the message:

File does not exist
Unable to find required information in install package

Do you have any idea what went wrong?

The file should be installed in Phoca Font. Check if the XML included all needed information - the same like by other font files.

Hi Jan,

Thank you for your support. It didn't work out first, but then I just renamed my fontfiles in "Domestic Manners", and copied them into the zip files of this font. So therefore I knew the .xml file was right. And it worked.

Thanks a lot.
