Hi Jan,
First of all: Well done on the component: it's awesome!
However I am running into some (minor but annoying) ussues with 1.7.0 beta. First let me describe the environment. I was using 1.3 and upgraded via 1.6.8 to 1.7.0beta.
Initially everything worked fine. I changed the Modal Box Settings to use a blue colour instead of the deafult black to be in line with the rest of the site, changed the font size of the name and the number of characters in the name and that all worked fine. Until I changed the nav buttons in the slide show with some new images of my own and all of a sudden the Modal Box defaulted back to black. As did the name settings. Now the strange thing is that the appearance only changed, because when I pull up the Global parameters in Phoca Gallery. It is still showing the changed values. I then found out that some changes I make to work and some don't. For example if I set the Display name to "hide" it will not show, but if I set it to show and change the propertis of the name (font-type, etc.) it still displays in 12 pixels, no matter what I do. Also It doesn't matter how large I specify the Modal Box height for example it will always show at deafult size. but at the same time, if I select "standard popup window" for the detail window, it will work. I can't get my head around this one!!!
I am running joomla 1.5.2
Furthermore I'd like to suggest some additional features:
I am uploading PNG's with alpha and notice that for some reason the thumbs and images in the slide show are shown with a black background. If this is by design and support for PNG's with alpha is hard to implement, is it possible to specify the colour to be used for the alpha in that case?
Also is it possible to integrate a download button for the displayed image in the slideshow navigation?
Finally, If I select Display all in the fornt end and clock on an image at the bottom of the screen, the Modal Box with the detail view is displayed at the very top of the page. At first I didn;t realise this and thought the front end was hanging. It would be nice to have the positioning of the modal box to be relative to the area of the page you are viewing...
But let me stress: It is an awesome component!!!!!

Hi, I have written a
Hi, I have written an article about Global configuration, it is not released yet. It will explain the Parameters behaviour:
The problem is Select box vs. Textarea... In Select box parameter you can set the 'use global' value but in Textarea parameters you cannot, so the menu link parameter (Parameters component) will override the Global configuration every time ... this is a problem of Parameters in Joomla! now, I hope that Jonathan will check my English soon and the article will be released soon.
Features:
PNG - The problem is, that Phoca Gallery doesn't create the thumbnails. It only uses GD library on your server to produce the thumbnails. There is function for PNG creation... I take a look at the GD function if there is a possibility to change some settings while creating PNG
Modal box - Phoca Gallery uses the modal box behaviour in Joomla! 1.5 and there is a known issue with non standard browser like IE (IE6), so if you want to support non standard browsers like IE you can select other method of displaying the detail of an image:

Really good article.
Really good article. It filled a lot of blanks for me. I've always wondered how the two configs related.
Thx, //LF
