No reponse to Parameter changes or image Un-publish settings

Post by FunkyJive »

Hello all (new here).

On a clean Joomla 1.5.23 website (running PHP5), with none other than Akeeba Backup 3.2 and JCE 1.5.74, I then installed Phoca Image Gallery version 2.7.8 and everything went without a hitch. I then created a number of categories, uploaded a number of JPEGs to one of them for starters, and created thumbnails. Again, all without a hitch, and clicking on a menu item revealed the gallery scrolling and clickable features and popups working beautifully.

Due to the default Parameter settings however, I could see that the image thumbnails were displaying the filenames so I tried to change this in Parameter settings. In-fact, after double-checking the manual I had tried so many settings I lost count, but still the persistent filenames below the thumbnails and popups on mouseover. I even tried recreating the thumbnails with altered parameter settings to no effect.

I then tried unpublishing an image but the associated thumbnail and related functions were still active after closing and re-opening the browser. I should also mention that all of this and the above was done with the Joomla cache deactivated.

It's no-doubt something stupidly simple, perhaps even server-side (?), but alas only limited time to resolve this.

All help gratefully received !

Thanks in advance,
FJ

EDIT:
With no replies I'm guessing by now that all viewers are as confused as I am, though after revisiting the affected web page this evening the correct thumbnail/image name and added description are now correctly showing. I then edited another image the same way and faced the same problem as yesterday. Looking at CPanel however, this was previously used to host a Frontpage website and has the dreaded Frontpage Server Extensions activated, so anything could be breaking Joomla/Phoca server-side! The images that were left unpublished yesterday still have issues however - they were still showing  Note: Nothing to do with browser cache by-the-way.

Time for a server refresh and complete reinstall methinks :(

Another website on another server, no FrontPage Server Extensions this time, same general spec as before, and STILL the same issues as above.

Surely, this has got to be a notable bug, or if I'm doing something wrong then I'd sure appreciate a few pointers or suggestions. The Joomla site (parked domain) sits in /public_html/home with a redirect to this directory, but I can't imagine this should pose a problem. As I say, everything else I've tried appears to be working, though I can't say I've tried everything.

Simplifying things a little (anticipating a common issue) I would like, for example, to establish why unpublished and unauthorised images still appear in Cooliris with the Joomla cache disabled throughout ?!

Anyone?

Having made a significant donation, a last try before troubling Jan for informed advice.

A wishful thanks in advance.

Hi, not sure If I read your posts correcty, but did you set the parameters in menu link to phoca gallery? See:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-phoca/ ... -component

If yes, there can be some other problem while saving parameters, see:

Thank you Jan.

Sorry for the delayed reply - I've been away on business and just getting back into the swing of it :|

I'll review the suggestions and links and will post back the results to the possible benefit of other members.

All the very best,
