Can i add the parameter so a link only opens up one particular category (e.g id=4 or id=7)? If so, can you give me the syntax i need to use?

Do you have an idea, or solution for this problem (we have beeing discused this topic since april)?
I'm, waiting still for change my site form 1.5.23 to 1.6/1.7 and looking forward the solution.
Please, consider how to manage this problem.
