Msg JFolder::create: Could not create directory

During the the Install of Phoca maps V2.02. on A Joomla 1.7 site I get the message
JFolder::create: Could not create directory
But the component installs successfully,
However when I try and use the component I get the following message:

500 - An error has occurred.
Table 'HENDONGC.zryxe_phocamaps_map' doesn't exist ...

Reading a number of forums, the problem seems to indicate that I don't have write access to a folder on the web server. The problem is I can't find out which. Any ideas on resolving this?
I installed this component on another Joomla 1.7 site without any problems.

Hi,

1) you should check permissions and ownership of your files and folders (generally) on your server (search more info in the forum)

2) seems like there was a problem while installing database tables in your mysql - try to see:
