Error 500 everytime a thumbnail should be created

Hello!

i ve searched here in forum but i can´´t see the clue.

I´ve installed Phoca Gallery 1.8.6 beta on Joomla 1.5.3 stable
php Version 4.4.8
GD Version 2.0.28

Everytime i upload a photo i am getting an error 500 and the complete gallery configuration doesn´t work anymore. After deleting the photo all seems ok.
it must have to do with creating thumbnails. After disable "create thumbnails" no error appears, but also no photo ...

Any Idea are welcome

Hi, check your permissions on the disc, see e.g. if some thumbs folder in folder phocagallery are created, try to add smaller image, maybe you don't have enhough RAM for the creating ...

Hello !

permissions are ok. thumbs directory ist created with '777' .
I ´ve tried it with an photo that is very small.
i don´t think that a memory problem exist.

additional info:
Gallery 2 installed on an subdomain at the same webspace works without any problem.
