Changing permissions in bulk

I'm building a new website, and I need to change the permissions. My old website needed everyone to just be registered(as all memberships were paid). Now, I'm having free + paid membership. I don't want the free members(registered) to access files. So, I need to change the permissions to Author (or Special). I have lots of files, and don't want to do it manually. So, is there a way to do it in one step with PHPMyAdmin? Thanks!
