Categories Not Showing When Logged In

I have a number of users that log in and have different files under different categories to ensure that the users only see the files that they are authorised to see. For some reason that i can't fathom, only one category is visible, the one that is set to be visible to all registered users.

The original configuration I had looked like this:

Category A -> User A Only
Category B -> User B Only
Category C -> All users

When I log in as User A or B, all I see are the files attached to Category C. I tried resetting all parameters to all categories to public so you did not have to be logged in as a specific user but I still only see the files attached to Category C. Even logging in as a Super User makes no difference.

Thoughts?

The other frustrating things is that even if I make Category C a child to Category B, I can still only see Category C...

Hi, there are two parameters for access rights:

one for group
second for only selected users (e.g. if you have selected registered users)

Did you changed both of them?

I change the Category rights in Categories but which section are you referring to in the second part of your post? Despite having users set up in Joomla, there is nothing in the Users section of the extension.

Hi, both you can set in category - they are both on the same place - one for group - second more detailed - for users - in case, the group will be e.g. "registered"

Resolved: User Error...

I had the menu link to the component set to File View which required me to select a landing category. This was set to the category that was visible. I've changed the menu link to Category View which no longer asks for a landing category and shows all categories as per the user permissions.
