Hi Jan,

I think it would be great if you added the ability for users to create their own categories for their galleries. This would save endless hours for the admin of manually setting up every member's gallery + sub-categories. Right now, I've played with sub-categories and it works fine, but the option to have self-manageable galleries for users would be superb.

In addition to this, it would be fantastic if each new user that signed up for an account on the site would automatically have a root user dir created for them. So, say "Joe" signed up for an account here. The script would automatically create "/images/Joe" and that user would automatically have the right to write to that directory. Then he'd be able to self-manage his galleries and upload images on a whim.

1. it is in feature request list (not so easy because for rights - see this forum)
2. Login or Register process is not made by Phoca Gallery, so there are no possibilities how Register process can make a folder...

Would it be possible to have categories created in mysql and have a user's photogallery created in there, with images that are uploaded assigned to their categories, etc? Obviously, I really don't know how joomla really works... so this might be a long shot in the dark. That way, more than one directory won't be necessary, since the images would be assigned in the database? Thus, directory permissions and directory creation won't be necessary functions. Is this something that can be accomplished with how joomla registration works?
