Phoca PDF stopped

Post by oorzaak »

Hi Jan,
I installed Phoca PDF on a 1.7 Joomla site a few weeks ago. It did work - but now it doesn't anymore. I cannot think of a reason why it stopped. I checked your documentation and I can tell there's really no template override involved.
The component is version 2.0.4 and the plugin is 2.05

I hope you can help me,

With kind regards,
Frits

I upgraded the site to 2.5.1., which seems to be successful overall. Then I noticed that PhocaPdf still did not show (no "PDF" link). So I de-installed and tried to re-install PhocaPdf. The plugin re-installed ok but on installing the component I get this error:
Component Install: DB function reports no errors, Error installing component

Hi, yes, to overwrite the content outputs, the component must be installed again (updated) but really no idea what means: "Component Install: DB function reports no errors, Error installing component" ... I think, this is more a question on joomla.org forum :-(

Hi Jan,

I've been working on other parts of this site, now I returned to this issue. I made a fresh install of Joomla 2.5.3. and I used SP Transfer to copy the content of the site. In this new installation Phoca PDF works perfectly.

So I have no idea what caused this issue but it is solved now.

Thanks for your advice,

Frits

ps Copying the site took a little more work than just using SP Transfer but I suppose that is not very relevant for this topic.

Hi,

After upgrading from 2.5.3 to 2.5.4 the same issue is back. Phoca Pdf stopped working: no icons, no way of accessing Phoca Pdf in the back end of the site.

Again I tried reinstalling, again I got this message:
Component Install: DB function reports no errors, Error installing component
If you have any suggestions I'd be grateful.

Kind regards, Frits

Hi, yes, after upgrade of Joomla!, unfortunatelly, Phoca PDF for content needs to be reinstalled (as it has no access to core Joomla! files :-( )

But testing the reinstalling, without any problem  ... in fact Phoca PDF does not install own database tables

Hi,

Now I've installed Phoca PDF on an different, fresh Joomla 2.5.4 installation. It didn't throw an error on installation. However, no pdf icon appears on the front end of the site.

I have installed:
the component (2.0.5),
the content plugin,
one font

And I have switched on the plugin.

It's really very puzzling.

Hi, check if your template does not override Joomla! core content feature, see:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/47-phoca- ... -and-usage (see warning boxes)
