Can't display Chinese (UTF-8) characters in PDF invoice?

Hi,

I have installed the Virtuemart plugin and can generate PDF invoice without problem. However, the PDF invoice seems can't display Chinese characters correctly (UTF-8), the address field in Chinese will be displayed as ??????. How can I solve this problem? thank you.

Hi, then check if used font includes such characters, if not, you need to create some font which will include them.

Hello Jan,
first of all thank You for your effort and time ... I do not have problem with chinese char. but with czech ones. I do not know wat is wrong and I would like to ask anyone for some help. I have installed virtuemart pdf invoices .. nearly everything works fine exept the czech characters do not rendetr well. There are some like í,á,ú etc.. work fine but č,ě,ř,ů etc.. which do not work. I do not know what to do to have it working correctly. I would appreciate any help. Here is the picture ... some of the special char I have renamed to a form witout teh ˇ and ° but not everywhere on the result invoice it helped. Actually using Joomla 1.5.25...VM1.1.9 and phoca plg_virtuemart 1.0.1 and com_phocapdf 1.0.9.

Hi, this seems like your font does not include chech characters, try to test all the characters on Phoca download site - I think two of them are using all czech characters (not sure, but it should be freemono and some of the dejavu ...)

Second option is to made onw font - download some free czech font - e.g. here:

and translate it to Phoca PDF font, see:

Nedari sa mi generovat faktury v ceskom jazyku zasielane emailom (vo VM zobrazuje fa dobre v ceskom jazyku) vo VM 2.0.6.

Neviem ako mam vytvorit tieto subory:

freemono.php (pravidelné)
freemono.xml (instalace XML soubor)
freemono.z
freemono.ctg.z
freemonob.php (tučně)
freemonob.z
freemonob.ctg.z
freemonobi.php (tučná kurzíva)
freemonobi.z
freemonobi.ctg.z
freemonoi.php (kurzíva)

freemonoi.ctg.z
index.html (prázdný html soubor)
freemono_authors.txt (informace o autorů písma)
freemono_copying.txt (informace o licenci na písmo)
freemono_credits.txt (iformation o creadits typu písma)

V navode to nieje napisane a ani v Readme.txt.

Pripadne nema niekto pripraveny cesky jazyk pre faktury vo VM 2.0.x?

V akej verzi VM sa vam podarilo do PDF faktur dostat uplne korektny cesky jazyk?

Mne zobrazuje "č" ako "?"

Ja mam VM 2.0.6 a trapim sa nad tym uz vyse tyzdna.

Nemohol by tu niekto pripnut komplet cesky font pre tcpdf?

Ahoj, ve verzi 1.x - font stáhnutelné s Phoca.cz - tuším tři nebo dva z nich mají podporu českých a slovenských znaků.

Addon pro verzi 2.x ještě není hotovej, protože ani VM zatím nevypadá stable

Ako mam vytvorit novy font pre cesky jazyk (TCPDF UTF-8) pre VM 2.0.6?

Potom ho tu mozem nazdielat.

Tento navod som nasiel aj ja pred tym ale priznam sa nenasiel som sposob ako vytvorit tie subory?

Skusal som editovat sucasne ale tie koncovky mi nejde otvorit napr.freemonob.ctg.z
