Problem with direct link

Post by dominating »

Hello!

I've got some problems with the direct link option. what i want to do is to link a menu item direct to a pdf document (view) - but i always get the page with a download button.

In options I enabled "display file view".

In the menu item i change:
Item Type: "File view"
and choose the right file

and by the file itself i checked "direct link" is set to yes.

Is there anything i have forgotten?

cheers

Hm, i dont know what you mean with "just set the direct link and don't set it", can you please explain it for me?

Edit: I missunderstood the direct link parameter - it is just for instant displaying the file if i click on download button, if set to no, it gives you the option with save as... But what i wanted to do is the following:

1) I got a main menue
2) I want to click an entry of that menue and get a new window with the pdf (view)

I need phoca download cause i wanted to place the pdf files outside the public folder - to give unregistered users no chance to access them, is that possible with phoca?

cheers

Hi,

"just set the direct link and don't set it" - just set the direct link and don't set that the "file view" should be displayed - it means: don't enable displaying of file view.

Direct link means, you give a link direct to a file - e.g. stored on some server so then the phoca download and your server do not have any influnce how to handle the file - the file will be handled by browsers rules.
