Phoca Download - doesn't appear in components

Phoca Download v2.1.6 successfully installs on my joomla site but will not appear under components. Is this a php problem?
Running Joomla 2.5.6 & PHP 5.3.15

I have the same problem, if I use index.php?option=com_phocadownload after my login url I can see the component. But this is ridiculous, I have search for an answer but its so convaluted no one can figure it out. Has anyone got an idea or a link to a solution?

Same here. I had an older version and upgraded. After that, no component visible; in menu-items it says "component is switched off"... Pressing Guestbook in the menu gives a 404 error...

Hi i have the same problem as the User above.. but i have no way to handle my sql-database directly.. is there any way i could get you component up and running?
