Phoca Gallery and SEF Advance 2008

Post by totalsuper »

:?: I'm a licensed user of SEF Advance 2008 ver. 1.5.6. How can I get Phoca Gallery ver. 1.8.8beta to operate correctly with that component turned on? Right now I have the Phoca Gallery component excluded from SEF, but it would be nice to include it. Thanks.

Hi, Phoca Gallery works with standard SEF and with SEF advanced (sakic.net)... The URLs are created by Joomla's JRoute method, so there should not be problems with other SEF extensions

Hi Jan,
When I turn on SEF Advance 2008 1.5.6 for Phoca Gallery 1.8.8beta, the gallery links end in 404 errors. Only the primary menu link works. Like this:

- top level Phoca Gallery Category List Layout menu item type,

Code: Select all

/index.php?option=com_phocagallery&view=categories&Itemid=54
becomes

Code: Select all

/photo-galleries.html
and loads fine;

- second level menu, a category link in the gallery,

Code: Select all

/index.php?option=com_phocagallery&view=category&id=16&Itemid=54
becomes

Code: Select all

/photo-galleries/category/16.html
and is 404 - Page Not Found.

Cannot navigate beyond the category level with SEF turned on.

:idea: Ideas? Thanks.

No idea, for this extension (sef advanced) I added the itemid into the JRoute methods, because some user had problems with SEF advanced... They gave me advice that I should add the Itemid, I added it and they say everythink works... so I don't know what can be the next problem ... :( Really don't know, the links are created by JRoute - standard Joomla method ... :(

In the meantime, I drastically simplified my site, deleting every possible unnecessary thing, uninstalling all goodies except SEF Advance and Phoca. I tracked down a very specific bug in SEF Advance that causes other pages to fail under some unique circumstances unrelated to the Phoca problem, when a section name is the same as a menu name (in my case, the word was "news"). Can't use that word either place. That has been resolved. Now, SEF Advance reveals this error when support is reactivated for Phoca:

Code: Select all

Redirect Loop
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
The browser has stopped trying to retrieve the requested item. The site is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete.
    * Have you disabled or blocked cookies required by this site?
    * NOTE: If accepting the site's cookies does not resolve the problem, it is likely a server configuration issue and not your computer.
That error occurs in response to this page request (based on previous post from 27 July):

Code: Select all

//photo-galleries/category/16.html
Notice the double slash at the front. If I remove one slash it will add a second slash again by itself. :cry: What do you think about that?

Here are my settings in SEF Advance 2008:

Code: Select all

Settings
SEF Advance enabled = Yes
Fish support = No
Redirect built-in SEF URLs = Yes
Redirect non-SEF URLs = No
WWW redirect = No
Log Not Found hits =	No
Debug = No

the problem is, I don't know SEF advanced and cannot learn it, because the code of SEF Advanced is encrypted ... so I have no idea what can be wrong ... :(

Hi Jan,

I just emailed Emir, the programmer of SEF Advance 2008, and referenced this thread. Hopefully he will provide some input. Meanwhile, I'll just leave Phoca excluded from SEF. We've hit a brick wall for now. :x

I've given Emir Sakic (author of SEF Advance 2008) an account on my system. He has downloaded a new copy of Phoca Gallery and is working on a solution.
