Problems with the search functionality plugin

Post by alistair »

Appologies for posting this again, but I did originally post it in the wrong forum :

I use Phoca Gallery for my images and I have installed the search plugin. I am experiencing a few issues though (I do love phoca gallery).

Firstly, how do I configure the search to ONLY search phoca gallery and not everything else on my website?

Secondly, when I do search for something (text of an image description) and I find what I'm looking for, I click on the link, it then takes me to the gallery page where the image is (not to the image itself). And when I click on any of the images on the gallery page, I get "404 - Category is unpublished or does not exist" error...

Ideally would I would like is for the search results to display as images (I sell equestrian event photographs). Each rider would search for their name or number or name of horse - this should then display all their images to purchase.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regarding your first question (search only phoca gallery): Proceed to Extensions -> Plug-in Manager and disable any plugin with name convention "Search - COMPONENT" (for example, Search - Categories and Search - Newsfeeds).

The second question requires some updates to the Phoca Gallery Search Plugin (and possibly the search component, I've been stuck in Joomla 1.5 lately and haven't had time to review the updated search code). I think you've seen my article on geekgumbo for accomplishing this with the older search plugin (2.7.x) and Joomla 1.5. I'm working on an update for Joomla 1.7/2.5 and the latest Phoca Gallery/Phoca Gallery Search Plugin releases. I'll try to post here after it's ready.

Hi, in fact 90% of phoca gallery instances does not use no popup window, this means, there cannot be used a link to image, if it has no own site, so this needs to be customized in the code, only in case, on the site, no popup is used. - the plugin should have the link directly to the image.

"the plugin should have the link directly to the image"
You are talking about the Phoca Gallery Surch Plugin? On my search function, there is nothing to find into Phoca gallery, no picture name, no picture comment, no description.
I migrated from Joomla 1.5 to 2.5, is there my problem? On Joomla 1.5 was working very well.

you are right. I made a phoca gallery be scratch and there, the search function is working. When i import the DB via phpMyAdmin, no search results anymore. It looks like that Joomla has his own search DB and when i import my phoca DB via phpMyAdmin, the joomla search not will be updated.
