I am trying Phoca Download to see if it will work for my purposes.
I am helping a non-profit organization redo their website. Currently they use another contact management application as their website. I am redoing the site in Joomla.
This organization has monthly newsletters, pdf, downloads available for their members. The downloads are grouped into yearly category's, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 etc.... Currently, the members selects main menu option, and are presented with a page of subcategory's (years). In each subcategory are the available downloads.
Currently the member can select the newsletter and view it online, or download it as a pdf. I'm looking to duplicate this as closely as possible, and I think Phoca Download might be the answer, but I need to verify a couple of issues first.
The big issues is the ability to view the pdf online. I like how the category looks and how the pdf's look on the page, but when I click on a pdf, I'm prompted to download the pdf. Is there a way that I can open and view that pdf instead of downloading it? I see a button on the side that will allow the download, so the ability to download is on the page, just as I like. I would really like the ability for the uses to view the newsletter online as well as download.
On the main category page, I see a section that say's "Most Downloaded Files". I don't like that, is there a way to turn that off?
Thank you.
Daryl

Hi, you can disable most download files in Options and you can set Preview function, it means, the pdf can be previewed istead of downloaded.
