PhocaDownload stop website from working

Thanks for creating free application for users to download from website. I have seen the plugin working on various sites.
When I enable the phocadownload on my installation Joomla 1.5 , the website stop working and an error appears that phocadownload is not correct.
I have installed, automatically, manually, a number of times, always with the same result.
Please advise the next step.

The version is 1.3.6, for Joomla 1.5 - I have downloaded the zip file and used the upload/install to load

Hi,
1.3.6 is the current version of Phoca Download Plugin.
You need also to install Phoca Download Component.

Thank you for the advice, it was a two-fold problem as after changing permissions to 777, the installation were successful
