Man you are, as always, developing way ahead of the rest of people, we love that from you, do not take me wrong. J3.x is ready but not all main external extentions and templates, etc are fully updated. For lots of us, we will still need to wait for J3.x migration.

From same joomla.org guys "Sites that are currently on joomla 2.5 are encouraged to stay on 2.5, until Joomla 3.5’s release". Latest Joomla i know is 3.1.4, still few months until we can see the J3.5

I know you have been avoiding J2.5 smart search plugin, but....
Could you please consider this popular need and overwritte for 2.5?

We have been asking this a lot (not only pluging for J3.x, but for J2.5) and you already added it "to feature request list. I will implement it to next versions of plugins" since 14 Aug 2012 :( .... HELP

Or maybe tell us what needs to be done for overwritting  ?

Hi, it is more difficult than it seems, overwriting takes me over 2, maybe 3 years, so overwriting for 3 is for me a "must" as I am overwriting extensions for e.g. Joomla! 3.1 cca 2 years, then it will take me e.g. 1 year to overwrite it for 3.5 (maybe) ... but if I will not do it for 3.1 - then It will take me cca 5 years to overwrite extensions from 2.5 to 3.5 (now with help of continuosly developing it will be shorter) - As I wrote many times, I need to go to my regular work so my free time I can spend only to some of selected actions - if I spend it for doing all extensions for 2.5, I will be not able to do them for 3.1 - if they will be not ready for 3.1 - then it does not make any sense to do them from 2.5 directly to 3.5 as then the time demand is so large ( up to 5 years) that it does not make any sense to do it :-(

I understand your point Jan, I remember you telling about your main job since 2009. I also remember if not confused that you sort of bounded with others (partners) to lighter your site weight from your shoulders, maybe I am wrong (it is just what I vaguely remember … I also believe with ALL the effort you have invested and the “great results”, that your extensions/site should pay you a fair/earned decent life, and not needing to work on something else, of course only if you really like it :-) … but mainly what you have should give you “as a great project” all the resources needed to invest into development).

At any case, prioritizing is a most for you (until you have the resources (not necessarily money, but also man hrs. contributions) for development) at this moment and I totally agree with you on the way you are planning your future.

However I still do not plan to move into J3.x, and for sure want to keep phoca gallery as my main image manager (happily using it for over 4 years now). I suggest another option: We are talking specifically about “phoca gallery smart search J2.5 plugin”, not overwriting all your extensions.

What if you manage another coder to work on this task and I pay for him as my donation to Phoca?

I am not a coder myself, but I know some good coders that we could invite to work, I am sure you also know some people that could be of great help. Even on this same forum you have coder users that may want to participate. We could call this a way to empower your community, to allow us pay for development ;-)

You know better than anyone how much in time and effort every task should cost on man hrs, just put a price to them, publish the whole list of task with prices and allow coders and volunteers to participate.

Hope you like the idea.
