New User Groups not visible

Post by saswiss »

Hi,
I have created 2 new user groups under Public - each should have access to only specific categories/files. When I try to set the permissions on the files, these new user groups do not appear in the drop-down list. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hi, not sure what this can be caused by , testing now, no problem - If I set access for some newly created group, it works normally for me

I'm also experiencing this problem, but I'm not sure if I have configured things correctly as I'm new to Phoca and have not worked with the ACL before. I will try to break it down:
What I need to do: Assign a user group (not an access level) to a file or category to restrict download access. The user will pay for a subscription and after payment will automatically be put into a user group (not access level).

I have gone into Users>Groups>Add new group and created a new group with Public as the parent. This is called "Subscribers".
I have then gone into Phoca>Files>Edit(my file)>Access but my new group does not show in the drop down list. I have just Public, Registered and Special.
I then went into the Users>Access levels>Add new level and created a new access level called "Premium Content" and assigned it to the new group "Subscribers".
Going back into Phoca>files>Edit(myfile)>Access, I now see "Premium Content" listed as an option, so I select it.
I then test by assigning myself to the group "Subscribers" (I cannot see how it is possible to assign a user to an access level instead of a group?!) But, I do not have access to the file.
So, how do you assign a file to a custom group?

Apologies if this is down to my stupidity - I have googled and googled till my head is about to explode.n

Ok I think I have solved the problem - it's a caching issue! The changes I'm making backend are not showing up front end. Chrome incognito window saved me!
