Installation Failure

Post by bpcrafts »

Downloaded Phoca Gallery 4.0.4 and installed in Joomla 3.2, but will not work. Cannot find it listed in the Extensions, Components, or Plugins to enable it, and although it is listed in the components menu and I can choose the Gallery Control Panel, it opens with a bunch of warnings.......if I choose Images or any other option on the control panel it gives me an sql error.

Does this extension work with 3.2, or do I need to find another image handling plugin?

I can't even find it listed anywhere to uninstall it so I can try again!

Ok, here is what happens when I install the gallery.......I get an Installation Successful message from the Extension Manager, but when I go to the Phoca control panel I get dozens of the following messages everywhere:

Strict Standards: Declaration of PhocaGalleryCpController::display() should be compatible with JControllerLegacy::display($cachable = false, $urlparams = Array) in /home/swaturn/public_html/administrator/components/com_phocagallery/controller.php on line 55

Strict Standards: Non-static method PhocaGalleryUtils::setVars() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context in /home/swaturn/public_html/administrator/components/com_phocagallery/views/phocagallerycp/view.html.php on line 19

When I click on the button for Images, I get these:

Strict Standards: Declaration of PhocaGalleryCpController::display() should be compatible with JControllerLegacy::display($cachable = false, $urlparams = Array) in /home/swaturn/public_html/administrator/components/com_phocagallery/controller.php on line 55

Strict Standards: Declaration of PhocaGalleryCpModelPhocaGalleryImgs::populateState() should be compatible with JModelList::populateState($ordering = NULL, $direction = NULL) in /home/swaturn/public_html/administrator/components/com_phocagallery/models/phocagalleryimgs.php on line 18

Strict Standards: Only variables should be assigned by reference in /home/swaturn/public_html/administrator/components/com_phocagallery/views/phocagalleryimgs/view.html.php on line 41

Based on this, I can't be sure that the extension is reliable, and do not want to spend hours uploading and building folders for 13 years worth of images for the people I am doing the site for, only to have it fail when they or their clients try to view them.

I am not a programmer, do not know much beyond what php is and how it works, only use the front end of mysql as a rule, and use Joomla through the GoDaddy hosting service and their application installer. I picked this extension because it worked so easily and dependably with Joomla 2.5 which GoDaddy is hosting for another group I manage a site for. However, GoDaddy's installer does not provide 2.5 anymore, and I am not proficient enough to manually inatall it, so am stuck with 3.2.

Any help would be appreciated, but I am not versant enough to do any code repairs to the system.
