Migrating from Joomla 2.5.19 to 3.2.3

Post by betatester2014 »

We are migrating from Joomla 2.5.19 to Joomla 3.2.3 in the next couple of days.

Unfortunately our first attempt with Phoca Download 2.1.9 did not work and spat out the following error:

Warning: require_once(/home/joomla3/public_html/joomla30/administrator/components/com_phocadownloadDScontroller.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/joomla3/public_html/joomla30/administrator/components/com_phocadownload/phocadownload.php on line 16

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/joomla3/public_html/joomla30/administrator/components/com_phocadownloadDScontroller.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/joomla3/public_html/joomla30/administrator/components/com_phocadownload/phocadownload.php on line 16

Can you provide information of the best way to make the transition for Phoca Download 2.1.9 to Joomla 3.2.3?

Thank you for your assistance and for such a great product.

:)

There is a version for Joomla 3.x. The question I have is when one does the migration to Joomla 3.x it is advised that one uninstalls the extensions that will not work on Joomla 3.x BEFOREHAND, which means that one would need to uninstall the version of Phoca Download (and Gallery) made for Joomla 2.5. Does this mean the data for these are not migrated and one has to start all over again once one installs the correct versions for Joomla 3.x?

I cannot find documentation for this on the site. If there is documentation on this migration, please direct us so that we are not asking unnecessary questions!

Hi, for now there is migration documentation for 1.5 to 2.5. As Joomla! 3 is not stable LTS, I will write the guide after it will be stable and nothing will be changed - for now I still didn't test it but I think, this will be similar (maybe it will be easier) like the 1.5 to 2.5 migration:

Hi,

I've read the LTS /STS concept has changed now with joomla. What does it mean about the upgrade process from joomla 2.5 to 3.x?

Do you speak of 6 month or more in order to document the needed steps? do you have any idea yet?

best regards

Hi, this means that it is up to users when they will migrate.

I for now have cca 3 - 4 large tasks before I will test the migration from 2.5 to 3 and will write guide for this migration. And I really cannot say when I will finish the tasks :-( - the problems is always the time and no support by other users :-(
