Preview and access right

Hi,
i display non-authorized files in my web site. If i click on download i get the login page : perfect.
But if i click on the preview button, the file is openned.

That is not fine at all.

And help.

Hi, yes, this is right. You should have two different files, e.g. PDF - one completed - which should be downloaded, second not completed - e.g. only table of contents of the PDF document - to preview it only.

but only table of content is not fine for me. Because if you have the rights, you see only the table of content.

In a perfect world, the preview button works as the download button.
You don't have rights, redirect to login page.
You have rights, watch it.

So i have to disable the preview fnctionnality in the whole website.

Hi, if the preview button will work like download button, then there is no need to have it. The preview is really a preview and mostly needed by files which are not accessible.

In most cases, preview is used for previewing something which you cannot download.

I have the same problem. I have PDFs that I would like only registered users to see and download. If I use Preview, they can see the PDF but also download it from the Preview page. If I use the Download link, only registered users can download the PDF but they can't see it without downloading and then opening the PDF.

I have old sites that didn't use Joomla and these had links that when you clicked the link in an article, the PDF opened in a new page if you had access rights. Then you could save the PDF using the browser save option.
