Error loading component: com_phocagallery, 1 Error in Joomla

I have installed Phoca Download v2.1.9 on one site and it is working perfectly. However, I have installed the same version on another site and am getting the error message: "Error loading component: com_phocagallery, 1" when I try to create a new category.

I have read the forum posts on this subject and find them difficult to understand. I am not yet running Joomla v3 so cannot use the latest stable version of Phoca Downlaod.

Is there an easy fix for this problem in Joomla 2.5?

Hi, this is not related to component problem, this is why it is hard to understand similar topics. Mostly manually uninstallation of component and reinstalling should help:

I did what you suggested and uninstalled the component. I received a list of files that has not been removed but could be manually, so I manually deleted them via FTP. I also deleted com.phocadownload

I then purged the cache and reinstalled v2.1.9 of Phoca Download, but to no avail. I still get the same error message when I go to create a new category.

What now?

Hi Jan,

I uninstalled again and went all through my site folders in FTP, deleting everything Phocadownload. Then I reinstalled again.

This time, I got through to new category and tried to create one by entering a title and clicking Save. I then received the following error messages;

Error loading component: com_phocadownload, 1
Save failed with the following error: CATEGORY MUST HAVE A TITLE
Error loading component: com_phocadownload, 1

Needless to say, I had entered a title.

Hi, there still seems to be some problem in Joomla! which is not able to load the component, but why, really no idea, some forgotten item in some of Joomla! table

Did you try to search joomla.org forum for "error loading component" error? I think, there should be some advice
