Are three, four days that I asked the question. The only answer I give is that we are working to solve.

Solved!
The issue was on the plugin System - JSN Framework - the management for images free version.
E 'must upgrade to version 1.5.1 to fix the problem.

Same problem here. PDF docs open in same browser window as code rather than a pdf document. I have no JSN plugins installed so that is not the problem.

You can see on this page: http://www.southportslsc.org.au/our-clu ... ewsletters

Joomla 3.4.0. Helix 11 template. Any suggestions?

Further to my post above: "Direct Link" enabled for each individual file half solves the problem. It at least allows the file to be opened as pdf in the browser but it fails every 3rd or 4th load with "Failed to load PDF document"

I can't see anything in the configuration to make "Direct Link" the default behaviour for file downloads (unless I'm just not seeing it?). I need this as assigned users will upload from the forn-end and that is not an option in the front-end. Also, is there a mean by which to force the direct link to open in target="_blank".

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Hi, I can download the file normally (maybe you have changed it to direct link)

But if there is the same problem, then you need to search other extension (system plugin, module or template) which can cause it. Try to test it with another template, with disabled modules and plugins, etc. As posted in previous post, the main function for downloading is somehow affected by external system part (other plugin, module or template function) - it is external, not a part of Phoca Download, so such needs to be found on your site and checked

Thanks for the reply Jan. Yes, I did change downloads to direct link to get around the problem. I figured it would be a plugin/module/template conflict but unfortunately so far I have been unable to work out exactly which one. Still looking.....

Direct Link is a reasonable workaround for what I want to achieve for the moment but could you possibly point me in the direction of exactly what file and where I would edit to achieve target="_blank" as the default behaviour for the direct link download when the direct link file is stored on the server. Thanks.
